Tuesday Night

So, I'm working late tonight and its dead here so I thought I'd write a little bit about this season for our beloved Fighting Irish. The only thing I can describe this season is a disappointment. It really has. We had a couple of great come from behind victories, Michigan State & UCLA(which now doesn't seem so bad cause they just beat USC) but we got killed in our two big games this year. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh is all I want to say. Its been so disappointing. Its like the team was on auto-pilot the whoel season. I will say that I'm really happy with what Brady Quinn did this year. His one bad game really wasn't his fault. In the Michigan the first pick hit off the hands of John Carlson and the last one was an amazing play by the Michigan DB. Both were not his fault. He put up good numbers against both teams. For some reason our offensive line did nothing this year. They couldn't block anybody! Brady was sacked at least twice as much as last year. I'm not sure of the exact amount but it seemed liked there was always pressure on him, no matter the opponent. Last year he got sacked like once a game, which isn't bad at all. It seemed like last year he always had time in the pocket to make his passes. This year it seemed like he was running for his life. Well, hopefully he'll end up with a team that has an offensive line. I was pleased with the play of our wide receivers. The Shark and McKnight had good years. Quietly McKnight tied Jeff's record of 15 receiving TD's in a season. Carlson was a very pleasant surprise this season. I thought we would have been done after Fasano left, but Carlson proved to be a really good replacement. The defense played pretty well, but it was the same story as last year. We're too slow!! The DB's were constantly giving up big plays. It was pathetic and completely frustrating because I like them a lot. I think the incoming guys and Terrail Lambert will eventually be better in the coming years. So, I'm sad to see this team leave because I really got behind them the past couple years, but now it's time to wait for the Sugar Bowl, hopefully break the 8 game Bowl losing streak and bring on Jimmy Claussen. Lets hope he's half the QB that Brady was.
